JON MAICHEL THOMAS
Jon is a filmmaker and entrepreneur known for blending visual storytelling with digital innovation. His work spans film, television, interactive design, and user experience — shaping narratives that connect and engage audiences.
As a Commercial Director and UX Director, Jon has led high-profile campaigns and digital experiences for Fortune 500 brands including YouTube, Target, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medtronic, UMN Fairview, Earth Justice, MIIR, Bass Pro Shops, and U.S. Bank. His expertise ranges across software, websites, mobile apps, digital gaming, and emerging technologies.
In the film world, Jon earned an Art Directors Club Silver Award for designing the opening title sequence for Joel & Ethan Coen’s Intolerable Cruelty and contributed as a title designer for Angels in America (Mike Nichols), which received an Emmy nomination. His title design and VFX work spans over twenty feature films, including The Company (Robert Altman), as well as indie projects like Syfy’s 400 Days, Hover, All These Small Moments, and Tuscaloosa.
A storyteller at heart, Jon co-produced the independent feature Ghost from the Machine, which sold internationally and domestically before being remade as Our House by XYZ Pictures. He also produced the award-winning feature The SandBox, and has written and directed acclaimed shorts including Photos & Drawings and The Great White Storm. His recent work includes the short documentary A Day Trip to Porcupine, about getting out the vote on the Standing Rock Reservation, and Understanding Rock, a feature documentary in production exploring the NoDAPL pipeline protests in Bismarck and Standing Rock, North Dakota.
Jon is the Founder and Creative Director of Studio Collective, a creative studio focused on story-driven digital content and experiences. He is also the CEO and Co-founder of MadeDaily.com, the first Secure Digital HQ — a fully encrypted platform where businesses manage their website, client portal, payments, and data, all in one secure place.
